Cassidy Cannon

Cassidy Cannon is a PhD student studying with Dr. Maya Stanfield-Mazzi. She focuses on the ancient Andes, using an interdisciplinary, eco-critical approach to Nasca material culture. Cassidy completed their MA at Georgia State in 2024. Their MA thesis, “Cross-stitched Stones: Untangling Gender and Ritual from the Simple Lattice Motif at Uxmal,” was the product of field work conducted in Valladolid and Xocén, Yucatán thanks to a Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Grant from the University of North Carolina. In 2025, they were awarded the University of Florida Center for Latin American Studies Field Research Grant to complete field work in Nasca, Peru. Her work explores the relational capacity of Nasca effigy vessels in their fabrication, use, and ultimate dispatch and has been presented at SECAC , SAMLA (the South Atlantic Modern Language Association), and The Andean Textile Arts Association.
