UF Viola Day 2017

On September 2, 2017, Dr. Lauren Hodges, Assistant Professor of Viola, hosted a regional viola day at the School of Music with 44 attendees ranging from 12 years old to adult. Morning events included All-State preparation workshops and masterclasses for middle and high school students with Hodges, Laurel Yu and Stephen Fine as faculty. Guest artist Rudolf Haken taught a masterclass and performed a recital with Jasmin Arakawa. All participants also participated in a reading session for large viola ensemble.

Hodges, also, was a Guest Artist for the Fifth Annual Viola Day at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia, on September 23, 2017. She taught several college students in a public masterclass and lectured about the principles of Karen Tuttle’s coordination system. In addition, she performed a recital of American works for viola and piano with Doug Jurs.
