School of Music alumnus and former UF Summer Orchestra Director, Ismael Sandoval, attended with Dr. Raymond Chobaz the College Orchestra Directors Association (CODA) National Conference in Washington, D.C., February 1–4. Sandoval was one of three students chosen nationwide from a pool of over fifty applicants to participate in masterclasses with Tony Maiello. Sandoval has been the fourth conference participant from UF in the last ten years to be selected for this special occasion for young conductors by a national panel of judges. During rehearsals and after concerts, Sandoval also had the opportunity to meet Maestros Christoph Eschenbach with the National Symphony Orchestra and Markus Stenz with the Baltimore Symphony.
