UF Assistant Professor of Trumpet, Dr. Randolph Lee, performed a guest artist recital at the Universidad de las Artes (UArtes) in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

The recital, with pianist Zoila Cevallos Lecaro, was held at the downtown Guayaquil UArtes campus. The program featured a number of Lee’s own transcriptions and compositions including Chopin’s Nocturne Op. 62, No. 2, Carnival of American Pie, and a world premiere of Caprice No. 1: Forest Murmur for Solo Trumpet and Nature Sounds.

Paying tribute to the great trumpeter Rafael Mendez, Lee included Mendez’s Romanza No. 2. The concert ended with an arrangement of Piazolla’s Adios Nonino by UArtes trumpet professor Eduardo Manzanilla, which also featured the Dean of the UArtes School of Music and host, Dr. Andrey Astazia on French horn.

In addition to the recital, Lee presented a masterclass to students of the university. Topics and activities included effective practice habits, brass fundamentals and student coachings.
