Joshua Neumann selected as HASTAC Scholar

Joshua Neumann, a PhD candidate in historical musicology, has been named a Scholar in the Humanities, Arts, Science, and Technology Alliance and Collaboratory (HASTAC) for 2015-16. The HASTAC Scholars fellowship program is a student-driven community of graduate and undergraduate students who are working at the intersection of technology and the arts, humanities and sciences. Their work centers on rethinking pedagogy, learning, research and academia for the digital age. HASTAC Scholars discuss new ideas, projects, experiments and technologies that reconceive teaching, learning, research, writing and structuring knowledge. Neumann’s dissertation and planned research agenda combine digital humanities, computer science and statistic! al techniques to develop new ways to document opera performance and analyze its evolution over time. He is eager to contribute to discussions involving technology in relationship to research, pedagogy, and the HASTAC community’s engagement theme for the year, “The University Worth Fighting For.”
