Dr. Megan Sheridan, assistant professor of music education, and Dr. Don DeVito, UF alumnus and music teacher at the Sidney Lanier Center, presented a session entitled Kodály in the Inclusive Music Classroom at the Florida Music Education Association’s annual conference in Tampa, Florida held January 11-14, 2017. The session included a demonstration group comprised of students from the Sidney Lanier Center, a school for students with disabilities located in Gainesville, UF undergraduate music education students Dominique Baeta, Zachary Brown, Aaron Janosa, Gabrielle Tordi, and Madison Walker, and UF PhD student Andrew Bajorek. The presentation was the culmination of a semester-long project where Dr. Sheridan and the UF music education students made semi-weekly visits to Sidney Lanier to implement Kodály-based lessons in an inclusive setting.
