Michelle (BA Music Education ‘14 ) and Shawn Thomas (MFA Organ Performance ‘13 ) are newlyweds whose love story traces back to the Organ Studio at the University of Florida. Michelle was an undergraduate getting her bachelor’s degree in Music Education, while Shawn was at UF completing his graduate studies. They were both studying the organ.
“We didn't really see a relationship with each other, but we had a chance to get to know each other after taking a road trip together, and after that we decided to give a relationship a chance,” said Michelle.
The couple continued their relationship long distance as she finished up her degree and he went on to earn his DMA at the University of Kansas. The pair married this past January. The Thomas’ credit communication for helping them through long distance and helping them to establish a strong bond.
Michelle and Shawn both enjoy church music, spending their time with their cats and friends, and visiting local breweries in Largo, FL.
“Life has been great for us,” said Michelle. “We love being Gators and we are so thankful for our experiences we had at UF!”
