- Description
The Young Dancer Workshop of North Central Florida (YDW) provides young dancers (ages 11-18) in the region an opportunity to experience a multitude of dance styles, perform, and connect with other dance enthusiasts. YDW allows participants to deepen their relationship with dance as a possible career pursuit and experience training through the lens of academia and dance professionalism. YDW students will receive professional training, offered by a wide range of professional dance artists, and be immersed in the different forms, styles, and influences of dance. Movement styles will range and be inclusive of many different forms such as historical, cultural, artistic, and somatic. A priority of the workshop is to open the door to Dancers, who may not have had the advantage of exposure to this level of training and performance opportunity, will have access at a modest price. The Young Dancer Workshop of N. Central Fl. fosters a supportive and nurturing environment, and encourages a positive atmosphere to catapult the next generation of dancers forward with confidence and passion.
The YDW Welcome Concert will be on Friday, November 1st at 8pm. It will feature the Doug Varone and Dancers company from New York City. Doug Varone and Dancers continues to be among the most sought-after ambassadors and educators in the field.
The YDW Showcase performance will be held at the Santa Fe College Fine Arts Hall on Saturday, November 2nd at 8pm. This showcase is open to the public. The YDW Showcase is a celebration of our work. In respect to our production team and our limited time together, we ask that each group submit only one piece to perform at YDW. - Links
