Join the School of Art + Art History for a Visiting Artist Lecture with Sharif Bey.
Free and open to the public.
Sharif Bey is an Associate professor of art at Syracuse University. Bey earned a B.F.A. from Slippery Rock University, an M.F.A from the University of North Carolina and a Ph.D. in art education from Penn State University. He is a teaching artist with extensive experience in ceramics, community art programming and art teacher training. In addition to being an active teacher and scholar, he is a prolific studio artist who exhibits his works internationally. Since 2010 the United States “Arts in the Embassies” program commissioned Bey to create three public sculptures for Embassies in Khartoum, Sudan, Kampala, Uganda and in Jakarta, Indonesia. Bey is the 2017 New York Foundation for the Arts fellowship awardee and the 2018 recipient of the Pollock-Krasner Grant. Currently Bey’s work is featured in the Renwick Invitational at the Renwick Gallery/Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington DC.
