- Description
Join the School of Art + Art History for a Visiting Artist Lecture with Camille Henrot.
Free and open to the public.
Camille Henrot investigates structures of both visual material and the categorization of objects from a multitude of historical moments. Henrot deploys a wide variety of mediums with new technologies to deconstruct totalizing and universal systems of representation, classification and history. Through her extensive research and creative process, she raises questions of similarity and difference, partial connections, and the origins of the borders we create.
She has had additional solo exhibitions at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna; Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; Bétonsalon, Paris; Westfalen Kunstverein Münster, Germany; Museo Madre, Naples; New Museum, New York; Schinkel Pavillon, Berlin; and the New Orleans Museum of Art. She participated in the 20th Biennale of Sydney; the 9th Berlin Biennale; Prospect 3, New Orleans; and the 2014 Taipei and Gwangju Biennials. She received the Silver Lion at the 55th Venice Biennale, the 2014 Nam Jun Paik Award, and the 2015 Edvard Munch Award.
