Visiting Artist Lecture: Philip Corner

To say that nothing happened would be to say too much.
The academic equivalent of bubblegum Rock.
Philip Corner’s music is like a hotel; you can check in and out.
Everyone knows that the note C# has special mystic properties.
Would it perhaps have been less interesting without celebrities like John Cage and Charlotte Moorman participating?
Of the problems of the contemporary composer Mr. Corner seems to know nothing.
And Carnegie Recital Hall was so dark you could not even read the program!
Others hav perhaps written more interesting gong pieces but the result was pleasant enough.
