  • Description

This summer the UF Center for Arts in Medicine is hosting Theatre Connect Online! our 4th virtual season of Theatre Connect via Zoom. Teenagers in the LGBTQIA+ community will engage in various creative activities including improvisation and theatre games over the course of 8 weeks from May 11 - June 29. Tuesday nights, from 6:30-8:15pm EST. No previous theatre experience required!

Jeffery Pufahl, lecturer, will return as director and Camilo Reina Munoz (MA in Arts in Medicine 2018) as co-director for their 10th season of Theatre Connect. Theatre Connect will continue to partner closely with mental health professionals to support the safety and wellbeing of the entire cast. A mental health professional will participate and play along in every rehearsal and provide free on-demand counseling and referrals as needed.

Theatre Connect will welcome back Dr. Hannah Bayne, assistant professor from the UF College of Education, for her 6th season as lead mental health co-facilitator. We also welcome back Holland Hall for their 3rd season as a mental health co-facilitator. Holland is a registered mental health counselor who works at Springhill with the UF Department of Psychology. Holland is part of the LGBTQIA+ community and attended the UF Center for Arts in Medicine and The Second City Applied Theatre Summer Intensive in 2017.

All of our Theatre Connect crew are trained theatre for health professionals and are background checked by the University of Florida Office of Youth Compliance Services to preserve our participants' mental wellbeing and physical safety.

Visit https://arts.ufl.edu/TheatreConnect to learn more and register for this free program! Participants should be between 13 - 18 years old and part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Priority is given to participants in Alachua County.

This FREE virtual season of Theatre Connect is made possible thanks to the Pollit family and the generous contributions of the Marta & Bradley Pollit Fund
