  • Description

    Written by Henrik Ibsen

Adapted and directed by Mikell Pinkney

The New Mrs. Tesman is a fresh interpretation of Henrik Ibsen’s classic drama Hedda Gabler adapted and directed by SoTD professor Mikell Pinkney. Set in the Canadian capital of Ottawa, this Hedda Gabler is a member of the country’s “visible minority” dealing with the expectations set upon her as the daughter of Canada’s first black Member of Parliament in the late 1950s. The plot follows Ibsen’s play, while investigating psychological issues associated with class, ethnicity, and gender and identity politics.
