    What does it mean for an actor to create their own work?  Producers and performers Stephen Stout and Colin Waitt will speak about their experiences creating content in New York.  They'll discuss cobbling together a budget, grassroots fundraising, building relationships with press and critics, and how to create a professional relationship with friends. What you need to know to intelligently make your own opportunities while waiting for the phone to ring.

    Stephen Stout: Co­created and produced the sold­out, late night hit #serials@theflea at The Flea Theater from 2011 ­ 2014, featuring new work by Robert Askins (Hand to God), Nikole Beckwith (About Ray), Sarah Burgess (Dry Powder), Jonathan Caren (The Recommendation), Joshua Conkel (milkmilklemonade), Eric Dufault (Year of the Rooster), Nick Jones (Important Hats of the 20th Century, Orange is the New Black), Alena Smith (The Affair), Tommy Smith, Adam Szymkowicz, Leah Nanako Winkler and many more. Other NYC: the long running geek extravaganza Kapow­i GoGo at The Peoples Improv Theater (The PIT); Recall by Eliza Clark (Colt Coeur). He also ran the New York wing of The Old Vic Theatre's Old Vic New Voices and produced programming at 3LD, Soho House, The Vineyard, The Public and The Old Vic itself as well as The Orchard Project, the first simulcast transatlantic theatrical performance. Additionally, he has worked extensively in development at both The Public Theater and StoryCorps. As an actor, he was recently seen in Woodshed Collective's critically lauded immersive epic Empire Travel Agency; Kapow­i GoGo (The PIT); Chiara Atik’s Women (The PIT, Hollywood Fringe Festival ­ Best of Fringe). At The Flea Theater: John in Kim Davies’ Smoke; The Mysteries, Restoration Comedy, These Seven Sicknesses (all directed by Drama Desk award winner Ed Sylvanus Iskandar); Satan in Thomas Bradshaw’s Job. Salamander Leviathan (Joe’s Pub, Ars Nova); untitled degradation play, Clown Bar (Rising Phoenix Rep); extensive work with Ensemble Studio Theatre/Youngblood and multiple seasons of classics with the Aquila Theatre Company.     Colin Waitt is a producer, performer, and playwright.  Colin produces Puffs, currently in its six sold-out month at The Peoples Improv Theater in NYC.  He is co-producer of Serials at The Flea and also produced Time Out NY Critic’s Pick Kapow-i GoGo.  Select acting credits: Versailles 2015 (This Is Not a Theater Company); Kapow-i GoGo (The PIT), The Mysteries (The Flea); The Checker Game (Sam French Off-Off Festival); You Me Bum Bum Train (The Barbican, London); Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (Theatre 503, London).  Readings with Roundabout, Ensemble Studio Theater, The Flea.  He is a member of the television writing group at The Tank, and his work been produced by The Tank, This Is Not a Theater Company, Dixon Place, Tiny Rhino, Undiscovered Countries, and The Minnesota Fringe Festival.  He is currently developing an immersive audio play set on the New York Subway and a serialized radio comedy set in rural MN.  Training: The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (MFA), University of Minnesota--Twin Cities (BA).   www.colinwaitt.com
