Dina Benbrahim's feminist artwork investigates civic action and social justice for marginalized voices to reinvent what is possible. Her new solo exhibition "Riddled with Holes" illuminates diverse powerful instances—typically unnoticed—of mothers, workers, and hustlers in their every day lives. Benbrahim’s photos poetically address the holes in common narratives (created through an exclusion of stories about women at every level), highlighting even the seemingly monotonous experiences of women’s lives in order to depict women’s power. With this exhibition, Benbrahim seeks to engage with Gainesville’s community through the inclusion of real stories written by gallery visitors, creating both a visual and written history on the gallery walls.
