'Pebble' is a solo exhibition by Jesse Ring hosted at the 4Most Gallery. 'Pebble' reflects on cultural sites of accumulation as spaces where humans distribute emotion, memory, and ideas through material trace. This exhibition will consist of a one long scree of bisque shard and unfired clay laid across the floor of the gallery. Visitors over the course of the exhibition, socially distanced, are invited to visit the gallery and break off pieces of soft clay to create their own small sculptures to leave behind as material trace. All contributions will be permanently added to the work.
The virtual opening of the exhibition will include a performance where the artist will add to the work in real time. The opening will take place on April 9th, 2021, from 6-8pm as a livestream on the 4Most Gallery’s Youtube page. From then on, the exhibition will be open to the public for the viewing and participation following COVID-19 guidelines until April 23th.
Jesse Ring received his MFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. In the Fall of 2020 he joined UF as Assistant Professor of Art in Ceramics and Sculpture in the School of Art + Art History. His work has been shown nationally and internationally in China, Germany, and Hungary.
