    Filled with the nostalgia for the 1960s and mixed with a touch of camp and frivolity, Hairspray is sure to leave audiences with a smile and hope for the future. This iconic musical examines pre-civil rights Baltimore through the eyes of outsider ingénue Tracy Turnblad in her quest for stardom. What Tracy finds on that journey is much bigger than simply stardom itself. Come join Tracy, Seaweed, Penny, and the rest of the gang as they stand up against injustice and inequality against a backdrop of 60s style music and comical lyrics. 

    Musical direction by Anthony Offerle and choreography by Andrew Cao. Presented through special arrangement with Musical Theatre International (MTI), book by Mark O’Donnell & Thomas Meehan, music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Scott Wittman & Marc Shaiman. 

    The School of Theatre and Dance is proud to welcome Broadway veteran and School of Theatre and Dance alumna LaVon Fisher-Wilson (MFA '98) back to the Constans Stage in this production of Hairspray as Motormouth Maybelle.
