    4Most Gallery is proud to present Flesh Tint, conceived and curated by Tabatha Gonzalez. There will be an opening reception on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 7 to 10 p.m. There will be an accompanying figure painting lab in the gallery space on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 4 to 6 p.m. Artists are asked to bring their own supplies for this lab.

    Curatorial Statement

    Flesh Tint is an exhibition featuring paintings made by various students for the figure painting class at the School of Art and Art History at the University of Florida. After taking this course I painted my first self portrait, it then dawned on me that even though I am only a few shades darker than these models there was a clear difference in color palette. The work is just a sample of the evident absence of representation in the schools art department.This disconnection between students of different race and color has created a discourse on the lack of diversity in our curriculum. Expanding the presence of POC students in everyday art courses should be considered a priority at an institution of art. An all inclusive environment can be created by examining the details and acting upon problems that can be fixed immediately. This is an exhibition on how we progress.
