School of Music welcomes bassoonist Darrel Hale and pianist Ana María Otamendi from LSU! During the mini residency, they will present a masterclass, lecture and guest artist recital.
Darrel Hale
A native of Denver, Colorado, Darrel Hale recently joined the Louisiana State University faculty as the Assistant Professor of Bassoon. Mr. Hale received a bachelors degree in bassoon performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder where he studied with Dr. Yoshiyuki Ishikawa. He continued his training at the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, OH where he studied extensively with William Winstead and Martin James. Ana María Otamendi
Since her orchestral debut at age twelve, Ana María has performed as a soloist and collaborative pianist at important venues and with renowned orchestras in Austria, Panama, Brazil, the United States, Spain, Italy, and Venezuela. Upcoming performances include concert tours with the Reveron Trio (a Venezuelan ensemble devoted to the standard and Latin American piano trio repertoire), with clarinetist Cecilia Kang (premiering works by American composers and gearing to their first album together), and the Aelia duo (with pianist Elena Lacheva), concerts in China, as well as masterclasses in the US and abroad.
