- DescriptionWritten by Bruce Norris Co-produced with the Hippodrome Theatre Directed by Ralf Remshardt A satirically funny and provocative play about race, class, and real estate. Clybourne Park explodes in two acts set 50 years apart. Taking direct inspiration from Lorraine Hansberry’s classic drama, A Raisin in the Sun, Act One takes place in 1959, as a black family moves into a white neighborhood in Chicago. Act Two revisits the same house in 2009 in the now predominantly African-American neighborhood battling gentrification. This Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play considers how far our ideas about race have evolved – or not.
