Free documentary screening and Q&A with Ethnomusicologist and filmmaker Dr. Xavier Vatin, Universidade Federal do Recôncava da Bahia. The documentary discusses African-American Linguist Dr. Lorenzo Turner's Afro-Brazilian recordings of religious music from the 1940s and returning them to their rightful owners and community members in Bahia, Brazil.
This is the first of three events in the Afro-Indigenous Bahian Music as Resistance series which offers an opportunity for UF students, faculty, and staff to engage in discourses with scholars who specialize in current academic research on Afro and Indigenous Bahian culture, social sciences, history, and music. - Links
