The University Galleries at the University of Florida present Voices: Intercultural Dialogues, a student exhibition co-curated by Mehak Sandhu and Sarah Stander.
The exhibition aims to foster dialogue around identity, belonging, and cultural intersection within the University of Florida community. The selections reflect a variety of backgrounds and mediums, with works drawing upon the unique heritage and influences of the student artists. The exhibition aims to strengthen connections between those who are involved in the arts, and those interested in multicultural and international studies. Visitors to the exhibit are invited to discuss their own personal backgrounds—an act of celebrating the uniquely global population of our university.
The curators, as University of Florida Fine Arts students, are deeply committed to supporting the work of other student artists. By inviting applications from students outside of the School of Art and Art History, the exhibit aims to provide a welcoming opportunity for those whose work is not always spotlighted. The curators also wish to support their peers within the Fine Arts community, as they gain further experience and visibility within the broader university and beyond. This exhibition is possible thanks to the generous support from the School of Art +Art History (SA+AH), University of Florida, Gainesville. The curators would like to thank the following artists for their collaboration and contributions the exhibition: Alanis Gonzalez, Grace Sands, Zoe Rivas, Cing Huai, Rokheyatou Faye, Augustine Jho, Maria del Pilar Arrieta, Julianne Mooney, Cianna Smith, Rosia Bennett, Danna Leyton, Alexandra Kosoff, and Oixel Romero.
