The School of Art + Art History presents the Visiting Artist Lecture Series.

Join us for an artist talk and Q&A with Every Ocean Hughes on Tuesday October 7, 2025, at 6:15 p.m. in Fine Arts B (FAB) 103.

Every Ocean Hughes is a transdisciplinary artist and writer. Spanning photography, sculpture, installation, performance, film, as well as writing and publishing, her practice manifests from an ongoing inquiry into performativity and the spaces that hold queer life, and, most recently, queer death. EOH was editor and co-founder of the queer feminist journal and artist collective, LTTR. Her many collaborations include music with The Knife, Colin Self, and JD Samson & MEN, as well as costume design for choreographers and the band Le Tigre.

Her recent solo exhibitions include MIT List Visual Arts Center (2025), Whitney Museum of American Art (2023), Moderna Museet (2022), Studio Voltaire (2022). Group shows include the Museum of Modern Art (New York, 2023, 2014); Witch Hunt at the Hammer Museum and ICA LA (Los Angeles, 2021), 11th Gwangju Biennale (2016).

Hughes was a fellow at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University in 2019-2020. In 2024 she was awarded the Trellis Milestone Prize. Every Ocean Hughes is based between Stockholm and New York. She is formerly known as Emily Roysdon.
