This year’s first Spectrum concert explores the themes of ambition, greed, and hubris as found in music by Ruth Gipps and Igor Stravinsky.

The concert opens with Gipps’ “The Three Billy Goats Gruff”, performed by Dr. Paul Basler (French horn), Dr. Emily Hart (oboe), and Dr. Shannon Lowe (bassoon), and narrated by Dr. Colleen Beucher.

Following a short poetry recitation by Dr. Beucher, Dr. Tiffany Lu will conduct a performance of Stravinsky’s “The Soldier’s Tale”, featuring Dr. Kenneth Broadway (percussion), Dr. Peter Geldrich (clarinet), Dr. Lowe, Dr. Janna Lower (violin), Dr. Alexander Pershounin (double bass), Dr. Jemmie Robertson (trombone), and Dr. Christopher Scanlon (trumpet), narrated by Dr. Imani Mosley.
