Rare View Mirror

Rare View Mirror is a series of photographs by Samuel Aye-Gboyin that investigates individuals who exist in the margins of society, the real heroes in Ghana’s small-scale industry. These images question how we think about power, commerce, and privilege. These photographs are used as vehicles of expression to create new possibilities by placing ordinary and marginalized people within contexts of affluence, beauty, power, and authority. These pieces are inspired by the works of Diane Arbus and elicit the feeling of the othering. The series are inkjet prints on matte paper.
