Join us for a HESCAH lecture by Peter Probst, Professor of the History of Art and Architecture at Tufts University.

Peter Probst’s teaching and research are thoroughly interdisciplinary, located at the intersection between art history, anthropology, and museum studies. His areas of specialty include the visual cultures of modern Africa and its diasporas, critical museum and heritage studies in a global frame, and modern and contemporary African art. His most recent monograph, What is African Art? A Short History, examines the invention and development of African art as an art historical category.
