Code[d] Mixtape 2: Emerging Techno-Cultures of a Balanced Future

Code[d] Mixtape is a virtual gathering where we bring together a diverse group of artists, technologists and scholars to explore the current, and sometimes unexpected, convergence of the technocultural world across disciplines. The mixtape will be arranged around five sessions; Visible, Audible, Liveable, Sustainable and Emerging [V.A.L.S.E] Futures. We imagine a possible future without centralised, sometimes destructive systems, but with lightweight, distributed and co-creative order, that disregard the top down hierarchical models of society, which are often times with inbuilt processor for inequalities.

For this second edition of Code[d] Mixtape, our curator Qudus Onikeku will examine the expending terrain of Dance and NFTs with Sabela Grimes and Heidi Boisvert.

About the Contributors:

Sabela Grimes is a trans-media storyteller whose creative practice draws directly from a mix of socio-historical observation, self-examination and speculative exploration through layers of interconnected sonic, visual and kinesthetic arrangements. Grimes is a faculty member of USC’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance.

Heidi Boisvert is an interdisciplinary artist, experience designer, creative technologist, and researcher who interrogates the neurobiological and socio-cultural effects of media and technology. Boisvert is Assistant Professor of AI and the Arts at the University of Florida, a Senior Research Fellow at the Norman Lear Center, a research affiliate in the Open Documentary Lab at MIT, and a member of NEW INC’s Creative Science track.

Qudus Onikeku is the maker in residence at the UF Center for Arts, Migration, and Entrepreneurship and the co-founder of The People Center of Lagos, Nigeria.
