In 1988, the celebrated Nigerian novelist, poet, and critic Chinua Achebe, published an essay with the title An Image of Africa, the seminal text is a critique of a certain gaze upon Africa as “the other world.”

Qudus Onikeku, the current maker in residence of the Center for Arts, Migration, and Entrepreneurship, will be presenting during the Achebe | Baldwin @40 event organized by the center for African Studies; a dance film he made.

In this dance film, Qudus Onikeku takes us on a choreographic journey in a parallel conversation with Chinua Achebe, as they both paint for us an image of Africa through dance, music, and storytelling.

The screening will be followed by a Discussion (Q&A) with the presence of Dean Onye Ozuzu and the director of CAME, Osubi Craig.
