Brandon McKinley is the Public Relations & Partnerships Specialist at the College of the Arts. A UF alumnus, Brandon graduated with degrees in public relations and music with the hopes of discovering how the arts and strategic communications can be fused to influence positive social change.
At the College of the Arts, Brandon develops and implements communications strategies that elevate the college's programs to a variety of audiences, including students, alumni, donors, community members, and peer institutions. He manages the college's storytelling and news initiatives to align with the goals of UF's central communications and marketing office. He serves as editor for the college's weekly In the Loop e-newsletter, bi-monthly Rise capital campaign newsletter, and annual alumni and advancement magazine, Muse.
Brandon supervises the team of 5-7 public relations and marketing interns, who together curate content for the college's flagship social media accounts, produce photography and videography projects, and write stories for various publications. He also manages media relations with local and state outlets, produces marketing content for college events, and assists with communications for the dean.
As part of the development team, Brandon collaborates in creating strategies for fundraising campaigns and seeks opportunities for community partnerships and grants.
Brandon is a percussionist who studied under Dr. Kenneth Broadway. During his time as an undergraduate at UF, he performed with the Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble and Sunshine Steelers Band. A former section leader of the Florida Drum Line and an avid marching band fan, Brandon performed with and teaches at competitive marching programs.
In his free time, he enjoys being behind the lens of a camera, cooking a new recipe, or playing tennis.
