Maura is also a PhD candidate in Art History at the University of Florida. Her research topics of interest include amateur art, female friendship, artist-patron relationships, and political networking in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Maura's dissertation explores these themes through a case study of Hortense de Beauharnais Bonaparte and her extensive web of elite friends and allies during Napoleon's First Empire.
