Anna M. Carapellotti is a Lecturer at the Center for Arts in Medicine. She teaches courses in both the Arts in Medicine Online Graduate Program and the Undergraduate Dance in Medicine Certificate Program. Her research concerns both dance in health and health in dance.
Anna earned her PhD in Psychology from Queen's University Belfast in 2022 as a Thouron Scholar and her BA in Cognitive Science from the University of Pennsylvania in 2015. Her doctoral dissertation evaluated the multidimensional impact of dancing with Parkinson's. A portion of her PhD research was conducted as a 2019-20 Fulbright Scholar sponsored by the Netherland-America Foundation and hosted by the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
Anna has facilitated community-based dance classes for people living with Parkinson's since 2018 and has worked in youth dance since 2008. Both her Parkinson's dance group and her youth students have won international art competitions.With a background in classical ballet, Anna has additionally danced and staged many selections from the major classical repertoire.
