Alyson Maier Lokuta serves as Adjunct Lecturer, 2022 Creating Health Communities Conference Coordinator, and Field Engagement Liaison for the Center for Arts in Medicine, as well as Adjunct Faculty for the University of South Dakota’s Arts in Health Certificate Program.
Since entering the field of arts in health, Aly has built networks and relationships nationwide through organizations and initiatives such as the Creating Healthy Communities Arts in Public Health Initiative and the National Organization for Arts in Health.
Two of her primary focuses are using the arts to build resilience and combat burnout for healthcare professionals; and using the arts to develop communication, cultural competency and empathy skills for individuals, organizations, and teams. She is also committed to the professionalization of the field of arts in health and inspiring the next generation of arts in health practitioners. In her faculty position at the University of South Dakota, Aly has developed specialized curriculum for undergraduate and graduate level arts in health certificates.
