Christopher Matsos is a graduate of the College of Wooster, where he studied theatre and religious studies. He has an MFA in acting from the University of Florida and a Ph.D. in theatre history, literature, and criticism from The Ohio State University. Chris is a produced and published playwright, and his professional credits as an actor and singer include Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in Washington DC, Theatreworks in New York, Ohio Light Opera, Weathervane Playhouse, Sight and Sound Theatres, Farmers Alley Theatre, and Pan Pan of Dublin, Ireland. Chris appeared in several episodes of television’s ER, and his appearance in the film Batman Begins made the prestigious cutting room floor.
Chris has taught performance-based courses as well as theatre appreciation and history courses at a number of universities. His recent directing credits include Macbeth for the Ohio State University and Royal Shakespeare Company partnership, The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 at Weathervane Playhouse, and many university productions, including Almost, Maine, King Lear, The Walls, Rumors, The Children’s Hour, Abigail/1702,and Hearts Like Fists.
Chris is thrilled to spend the 2017-2018 academic year as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Florida.
