David McDermott interns with Disney Youth Programs

Fall 2014 Music Education and Spanish major graduate, David McDermott, has recently begun work as an intern with Disney Youth Programs. David joins a team of ten professional interns who help organize and manage Festival Disney, a competitive arts program that takes place over a period of several months. Professional internships with The Walt Disney Company have developed a reputation of professional excellence through the opportunities they offer and are highly competitive with more than 400 applications submitted for internships.

This is the latest in a series of internships David has completed, his first being with Yamaha Corporation of America during the summer of 2013 as a percussion marketing intern in the Los Angeles area. With Yamaha, David received invaluable experience working with the band and orchestra marketing department of the largest supplier of musical instruments in the nation.

David hopes to find continued ways to apply his various professional skills in music education and Spanish, and is thankful for the diverse opportunities he has encountered as a UF student and alumnus.

“We are extremely proud of David, and Disney Youth Programs’ recognition of the quality of our music education graduates,” said Dr. Russell Robinson, professor and head of UF’s Music Education program.
