Welson Tremura teaches and performs in China

This summer School of Music Associate Professor Welson Tremura was invited to teach the class “World Music Cultures” and perform in Chengdu, China for a second consecutive year. The two-week University Immersion Program (UIP) is designed to bring faculty together from all over the world, to lecture both domestic and international students at undergraduate and graduate levels. Founded in 1896, Sichuan University is in the city of Chengdu. It has 33 colleges and professional graduate schools, making it one of the most prestigious universities in China. There were more than 92 international faculty members, and approximately 500 international students from all over the world, who participated in the previous year's UIP. The university has already engaged with several major institutions in the United States, and searched for additional collaborative relationships along with international collaborations among students and faculty.
