Stan Kaye’s architectural lighting design class recognized

Since 2002, School of Theatre + Dance (SoTD) Professor Stan Kaye and School of Architecture Director and Associate Professor Martin Gold have teamed up to teach Architectural Lighting Design. The spring 2014 course included architecture students from the Gainesville and CityLab-Orlando programs as well as students from the SoTD.

As part of the course, teams of three were tasked to develop schematic proposals for a new lighting design for the Barkus furniture building (most recently the Sarasota County Print Shop) as part of the building renovation to house CityLab-Sarasota and the Center for Architecture Sarasota. The winners were announced at the LIGHTWORK exhibit that opened May 14, 2014 in Sarasota.

Congratulations to Diane Ariza, Kyle Sheppard and Jamison Deighan from the College of Design, Construction and Planning, who received first place for their proposal, Connection, Transparency, Garden.

"This class is extraordinarily creative and synergistic," says Kaye. "This is an excellent example of interdisciplinary collaboration resulting from a 10-year relationship between SoTD and  School of Architecture  faculty and students."
