Professor Mitchell Estrin Performs at International Clarinet Events

Professor of Clarinet Mitchell Estrin was the director and conductor for two international events in February. First, he traveled to Texas to conduct the Texas State Clarinet Choir featuring clarinet soloists Philippe Cuper (Paris National Opera), Boris Allakhverdyan (Metropolitan Opera), Andre Moisan (Montreal Symphony), Steven Girko (Austin Symphony), David Gould (American Ballet Theater), and Vanguel Tangarov (Texas State University). He then went to New York City to conduct the clarinet choir at “A Memorial Celebration for Leon Russianoff” at the Manhattan School of Music. Leon Russianoff was one of the greatest clarinet pedagogues of the twentieth century and served on the faculties of the Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music. The celebration marked the 100th anniversary of his birth and the 25th anniversary of his death and was attended by many of his illustrious former students. Professor Estrin and his father before him were both students of Mr. Russianoff.
