Museum Studies class visits St. Augustine's Government House

On Oct. 3-4, 2014, museum studies students had the opportunity to get out of the classroom and visit St. Augustine’s Government House Museum for their Collection Management and Museum Administration classes.

During their visit, students learned about condition reporting from the museum’s registrar and class professor, Dixie Neilson, how to place catalog numbers onto artifacts and what different techniques are involved with the process. The class also met with property manager, Billy Triay, to discuss an upcoming project that will seek out future exhibitions for the museum.

Also during their time in St. Augustine, students visited the exhibit, First Colony: Our Spanish Origins, which will be at Government House until October 2015.
