Please join us for a special Friday the 29th as we host a presentation and exhibition by artist and alumni Cristina Molina.
The artist will be presenting on her work at 5:30 pm in the SAAH Salon: FAC 118
Following the presentation, her exhibition: The Matriarchs, will take place at the 4Most Gallery from 7-10 pm.
Information on the artist:
Cristina Molina is a multimedia artist who was born and raised in Miami, FL and is a recent transplant to New Orleans where she was juried into an artist membership at The Front, a cooperative artist-run gallery. Cristina Molina is currently Assistant Professor of New Media + Animation at Southeastern Louisiana University. Since graduating the University of Florida and earning her Master's degree in Art + Technology, Cristina Molina's work has been exhibited regionally, nationally, and abroad. International exhibition venues include Chitrakoot Gallery in Calcutta, the Latvia Art Academy in Riga, the Faculty of Media Arts in Warsaw, and Makii Masaru Gallery in Tokyo. In the Summer of 2014 Molina coauthored a paper entitled “A Much Mended Thing” presented at the Art + Design, Art of Management conference in Copenhagen with Dean Rockwell (also a UF alumni). The paper will be published this Summer 2016 by Intellect publishing as the last chapter of the book! “Precarious Spaces”. This past Winter 2015, together with artists from The Front, Molina exhibted work at Galeria Breve and Espacio Feral in Mexico City. The exhibitions centered on commonalities in ritual, ceremony, and spiritual iconography that exist between visual cultures in New Orleans and Mexico City. Molina is currently developing her latest projects through funding from the National Association of Latino Arts and Culture project grant.
