Ashley Lazevnick received her PhD from Princeton University in 2018 and her MA from Williams College in 2012. Since 2018, she has taught at the University of Maryland and Washington & Lee University. Ashley’s research and teaching focus on Modern and American art, and she is currently completing the manuscript for her first book project, Fantasies of Precision, which reconsiders a group of American painters known as the Precisionists. More broadly, her research investigates the intersections of art and literature, the history of science, and philosophies of pragmatism in the twentieth century. Previously, her work has appeared in the journals American Art and Word & Image as well as publications for the Warburg International Seminar, the Ashmolean Museum, and the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum in Munich.
