“We are the boys from old Florida…” the oldest performing choral organization at the University of Florida
 

“We are the boys from old Florida!” heard at concerts, football games, and other University of Florida special events, is the University of Florida’s “theme song.” The University of Florida's men's close harmony singing has represented in song the uplifted heart, soul and spirit of the Florida Gators since the Glee Club was first established in 1924.

At 'four score and ten plus,' the Voices of Orfeus is the oldest performing ensemble at the University of Florida and one of the oldest in the United States. The beginning of Glee Club’s 90th year was celebrated by being the featured choir in CORPACOROS’ XIX Encuentro Coal de Música Colombiana in Buga, Colombia in June 2014.  

Conducted by Dr. Cory Alexander, The Voices of Orfeus is comprised of students from across the University of Florida campus is open to all male students.  All that is required for membership is a love of music and the willingness to share the joy of singing.

From spirituals to fight songs, barbershop to bebop, the choir has sung it all during its 90 plus years of entertaining audiences. Hearing men sing in close harmony is a rare treat these days.  Hearing old favorites with real melodies, lyrics you can understand, is about as close to musical heaven as you can get, we believe. The Men's Glee Club offers several performances throughout the academic year.
