Samuel Aye-Gboyin

Samuel Aye-Gboyin is an artist who works with various mediums such as design, photography, video, and animation and is currently an MFA candidate in art and technology at the School of Art + Art History, University of Florida. Samuel received his master’s degree with an emphasis in graphic design from Eastern Illinois University in 2021, in addition to his bachelor’s degree in communication design with a concentration in animation and motion graphics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology in 2018. Samuel utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to his work using these mediums to keep track of what is happening in the world today. Be it his frame-to-frame animation technique or compelling monochrome images, he investigates the topics of commerce, migration, globalization, and hybridity.

Lindsay Carlton

Lindsay Carlton is a visual artist born and raised in Lakeland, Florida. She works primarily in digital photography as well as utilizing techniques in time-based media. Carlton creates narrative-based images and videos using self-portraiture and staged scenes. Conceptually, Carlton is interested in creating these narratives inspired by her own lived experiences, as well as shared experiences from the perspective of women, Generation Z, etc. Carlton earned her BA in Studio Art from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2021 and she is currently studying at the University of Florida where she is an MFA candidate in Creative Photography.

Elmira Yousefi

Elmira Yousefi is an interdisciplinary artist working in painting, printmaking, and installation from Iran. She received her MFA in painting from Islamic Azad University Tehran in 2017, currently pursuing her second MFA in printmaking at the University of Florida. As a female artist who lived in the Middle East, she believes the power that exists in human beings, especially women, and is often ignored or suppressed in Middle East societies, is closely related to the hidden power of nature. The main concern of her artworks is the accumulation of her experiences encountering nature.

Dustin Adams

Dustin Adams is a contemporary artist in photography through film, 19th Century print processes, digital, and drone. He likes to photograph a wide variety of subjects, mainly nature-based. Sometimes the most interesting thing isn't the view at a distance, but what is laying in place at your feet.

Courtney Boyd

Courtney Boyd is a ceramic artist originally from Kentucky, pursuing an MFA in studio art with a certificate in museum studies. She employs clay and other materials to explore contexts of boundary, historical memory, and power, often working with ephemerality. Courtney is also a board member for the WV Mine Wars Museum, dedicated to the labor history of the Appalachian coalfields, and WV Can't Wait, a grassroots political changemaker in West Virginia. As a board member of the WV Mine Wars Museum, she manages the Solidarity Gallery, a rotating exhibit space for special exhibits and local community art projects. A recent addition to NCECA's Green Task Force, she brings a student perspective along with a background in green building and solar energy.

Chandler J. Damrill

Chandler is a contemporary sculptor from New Orleans, Louisiana. Coming from a background of fine wood working and furniture making, he utilizes these skills to create performative objects. Chandler currently seeks an MFA in sculpture and merges his work with video accompanyment. His research is driven by the desire to interact with his viewer both with his three-dimensional objects and video investigation.

Kenny Wilson

Jacksonville based visual artist, Kenny Wilson, received her BFA from the The University of North Florida in 2019 and has focused on drawing, painting, and printmaking for the majority of her career. Her drawings and paintings offer deep insights on the sitter – while symbols, words, and images explore the depths of not only the subject’s but the viewer’s experiences and personalities.

Eugene Ofori Agyei

Eugene Ofori Agyei is a ceramic artist, educator, and research fellow originally from Ghana, West Africa. He earned his BA from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana and currently pursuing his MFA in Ceramics at the University of Florida. Eugene uses clay, textiles, fiber, and familiar materials around him in his sculptures to explore the hybrid aspects of his personal and cultural identity.

McKinna Anderson

McKinna is an interdisciplinary artist working in photography, sculpture, and installation. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of South Florida in 2016 and is a member of the Tampa-based artist collective, Separate Checks. McKinna’s work navigates her relationship with truth, trust, and group participation, specifically focusing on the use of illusion to heighten what is real. Her practice is fueled by a build-break game of trust when it comes to assuming belief in what is presented, and questions memory through familiarity and humor.

India Brooks

India Brooks is a native Floridian artist. She received her BFA Sculpture from Georgia State University in Atlanta, and an MA (Master of Architecture) from the University of Florida. India is a multimedia artist currently working towards an MFA Sculpture. Currently a larger portion of her practice implements digital fabrication and performance.

In conjunction, India is a Graduate Teaching Assistant teaching undergraduate sculpture classes. For India, teaching is an important asset to her artistic practice. To her, the most important part of art is the exchange of ideas.

Allison Burch

Allison Burch is a ceramic artist from Toledo, OH. She graduated with her BFA in 3D design from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH. Allison earned a post-baccalaureate from Wichita State University in Wichita, KS. She is currently in her second year of graduate school at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL.

Jeremiah Jossim

Jeremiah Jossim is currently pursuing an MFA in Painting at the University of Florida. He earned his BFA in Photography from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2010. Jossim makes paintings about the feeling of uncertainty and reminiscence he has for the places he has known and the homes he wishes to see in the land. The idea and the architecture of home is an integral part of his painting. He is fascinated by the legacy of where we come from and how it can be a place, a structure, or even an archetype. His paintings investigate the shape and the feeling of the land, exploring the landscapes psychological effect on our personal sense of place.

Natalie Novak

Natalie Novak is an artist and educator from Cary, Illinois. She earned her BFA in Art Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2020. She is currently pursuing an MFA in Painting and Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies at the University of Florida. Novak's work investigates body awareness, intimacy, and the complexities of femininities through self-reflective processes.

Jiangxin Wang

Wang is an MFA student in painting and drawing, earned the BFA from the School of Art Institute of Chicago in 2020. Currently, Wang is working on an interdisciplinary direction to explore drawing, sculptural and time-based presentation of the traumatic relationship between an individual and its community. Wang’s works investigate symbolism of combined features of human and animal body to present the internal conflict, struggle, animality, and self-contradiction in the context of an individual's social and historical background. The works also explores the similarities between the current situation for solitary animals that are almost extinguished and marginalized individuals in exile from their own community.

Angela DeCarlis

Angela DeCarlis is a portrait painter, figure drawing instructor, and former figure model. Their work creates and responds to networks of relating in which access, care, and ecological and social justice are prioritized. They are the founder and lead artist of Figure On Diversity, an initiative designed to promote inclusivity in art and art education by designing resources to support and promote figure models who belong to one or more marginalized identities. In their paintings, DeCarlis examines the relationship between human subjects and their environments.

Kobe Elixson

Kobe Elixson is an Alachua County local who came back to Gainesville for his MFA in Printmaking at UF. His work centers on personal symbology and mythology derived from his rural upbringing and personal philosophical and religious interests, concerning purpose, existential thought, and the pursuit of belonging. He enjoys hot cocoa, tea, coffee, teaching printmaking, drawing, and sleeping.

Kourosh Jeddi

Kourosh Jeddi is currently pursuing an MFA in Printmaking at the University of Florida. He received his BA in Graphic Design (Visual Communication) from the Art University of Tehran in 2007. After a long time of working as a professional graphic designer, he decided to assay his typo-calligraphical ideas within the printmaking medium. 

The aim of his research is to apply the capabilities and potentials of written language to convey feelings and emotions beyond legibility by creating a diversity of visual forms. Moving toward an individual style while respecting the principles governing Persian traditional calligraphy is what he expects from his project.

Martha Underriner

Martha Underriner is an artist and educator based in DeLand, FL. Martha received her Master of Art Education degree from Texas Tech in 2015 in addition to her BFA in studio art from the University of North Texas in 2008. Prior to returning to school for her MFA, Martha taught in K-12 art education for eleven years. She utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to her work using cast glass, steel, and other materials to explore domestic spaces, the experience of the everyday, the emotional and domestic labor of women, and imagery and objects associated as feminine.

Sonia Vera-Leon

Sonia is a ceramic artist and educator originally from New York. She holds a bachelor’s degree in fine art with a focus in drawing and painting. Sonia has been an active artist for over a decade, exhibiting her work at Blue Line Arts in Roseville, CA, the Clay Center of New Orleans, Andy Gato Gallery in Miami Shores, and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, among others. Prior to pursuing her MFA at the University of Florida, Sonia worked as head ceramics studio manager and technician at Barry University in Miami Shores. Her current work explores themes of ritual, destruction, and community through installation. In the making and exhibition of the work, her primary aim is to connect people in a shared bodily experience.

Monsuru Awotunde

Monsur Adeniyi Awotunde was born in Igbo Ora, Oyo, Nigeria. Awotunde attended The Polytechnic Ibadan, Auchi School of Art and University of Bedfordshire. He is currently an MFA Drawing and Painting candidate at the University of Florida, Gainesville. He has exhibited in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Claire Lenahan

Claire Lenahan grew up in Southern Pines, North Carolina, where she became interested in the visual arts, then moved to Boone, North Carolina to earn her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art at Appalachian State University in 2014. After working almost 4 years as a studio assistant for Boone local potter, Bob Meier, she moved to Gainesville, Florida, where she is currently pursuing her Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics at University of Florida. Lenahan’s work explores social practice by enhancing the viewer’s relationship with art and other viewers through interaction and communication. She does this by creating expressive surfaces on functional forms and prompting the viewer to become a participant with her ceramics.

Cindy Leung

Cindy Leung is a ceramic artist who received her BFA in Studio Arts with a concentration in ceramics from Queens College, City University of New York. She was born and raised in Hong Kong. Previously, she assisted artists Sin-Ying Ho and Phyllis Kudder Sullivan. Most recently, she completed her studio assistantship at BrickHouse Ceramic Art Center in New York.

Aimee Marcinko

Aimee Marcinko is an MFA candidate in ceramics at UF. She graduated with a BFA in ceramics from Arizona State University in 2011 and an MA in art education in 2014. She spent the last three years working in production slip casting at an intentional community call Arcosanti in Arizona's high desert. Her focus is on wheel thrown functional tableware with highly decorative surfaces and is currently transitioning into wall installations.

Foad Seyed Mohammadi

Born in Tehran, Iran, Foad studied at the Art University where he received a BFA and an MA. After graduating he taught photography for 7 years in Tehran universities. He was also a photographer for archeological fields and museums. He decided to develop his knowledge in photography by coming to the USA.

“I believe photography was born in the developed country so the base of aesthetics came from here, for understanding, deployment and prevention of repetition, we have to know about the phoography history by resources.”

Andrew Norris

Andrew Norris’s creative practice contains image manipulation and old master techniques in oil painting. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. Born and raised in Northeast Tennessee, Andrew takes influence from southern male ideologies that are common place in a rural environment and promote a toxic understanding of manhood.

Emmanuel Opoku

Emmanuel Manu Opoku was born in Ghana in 1990. His installations explore his interest in landscape with the use of found objects- used coal tins, broken machines, fake hair, snail shells, empty rice sacks, just to name a few. He is fascinated by the roles these objects play in his community in terms of value and reflect on the issues of labor. The cut down trees bearing used objects articulate his understanding of possibilities.

Jasmine Ramos

Jasmine recently completed her undergraduate education at Stetson University in Deland, Florida. Her work tends to focus on her background in sociology as well as socio-political issues. Marina Sachs

Marina Sachs is a multimedia artist and organizer currently living in Gainesville, FL. Through sculpture, 35mm photography, and participatory installations, their practice blurs the edges between what’s real and what’s remembered. Their current bodies of work revolve around addiction; through lived experience and research, Sachs pulls from intersectional feminism and science fiction to examine addiction as a multiplicity of orientations. Tethered to their art practice is their ongoing talk show SOBER BABY, which interviews guests weekly about their experiences with addiction and sobriety. The show airs weekly on IGTV, and Seasons 1 and 2 are available on Spotify

Vahid Valikhani

Vahid Valikhani is a Landscape Photographer born in Isfahan, Iran. Valikhani received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the Isfahan University of Art. He is currently studying at the University of Florida, receiving his master’s degree in Creative Photography Spring 2021. During his time at the University of Florida, Valikhani is an instructor of record and a graduate school fellowship recipient. Vahid recently interned at the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art in Gainesville, Florida, where he thoroughly researched photographers for The Melvin and Lorna Rubin Gallery. Vahid currently lives in Gainesville, Florida.
