Museum Studies

Prospective Students / Why Museum Studies?

Why MS @ UF?

The UF Museum Studies program is the longest running MA program in the Southeast. The program has a longstanding reputation for its rigorous and holistic approach to museum practice that combines museum history and theory, interdisciplinary research, and practical learning experiences.

  • 94% of students complete the program
  • Approximately 98% of students were employed in a museum  or cultural institution within 3 months of graduation
  • Students come from diverse academic backgrounds such as: anthropology, art, art history, education, history, and more

Each year, the UF Museum Studies program travels to cities to meet with museum professionals and explore some of the world's leading museums. When students are not traveling to learn and network, courses frequently video conference museum professionals from around the world to speak with students. In addition, the program facilitates student participation in professional conferences, where students are able to network and find opportunities to present original work on a range of topics.
