UF kicking off National Arts and Humanities Month with an arts and cultural opportunities fair

Oct. 3 is marked as the "kick-off" date for the National Arts and Humanities Month (NAHM), with an Arts and Cultural Opportunities Fair to feature community and campus organizations related to arts, culture and humanities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the J. Wayne Reitz Union colonnade. Participation is free to attendees and participating organizations, made possible by the UF College of Fine Arts and the Fine Arts College Council student organization.

There will be a special presentation at noon during the fair. Dignitaries and guest speakers, including UF President Bernie Machen and Mayor Pro Tem Thomas Hawkins, will address attendees. President Machen is expected to talk about the importance of arts and humanities in the higher education learning experience and Mayor Hawkins will present a proclamation on behalf of the City of Gainesville.
