REPRODUCTION

Follow these steps to monitor in the emu studio.

REMEMBER: Follow all procedures as outlined in the handout `Getting Started."

    DAT: Analog (Tascam DA30)

  • The balanced outputs from the Tascam DA30 are normalled to the balanced inputs 31 & 32 of the Mackie 32x8.
  • DAT: Digital (Tascam DA30)

  • Tascam DA30 S/PDIF digital outputs are assigned to the z-8.8 digital audio router source 5. See digital routing handout for directions on using the z-8.8 Digital Detangler. Unlike analog signals, the 0 (zero) on the meter is the absolute maximum input to the deck before clipping of the signal occurs. The digital equivalent to 0VU is approximately -14 on the digital meters. This should give you enough headroom for amplitude peaks.
  • DAT: Analog (Panasonic SV3800)

  • Panasonic SV3800 unbalanced outputs are normalled to the channel 13&14 insert inputs on the Mackie 32x8.
  • DAT: Digital (Panasonic SV3800)

  • Panasonic SV3800 S/PDIF digital outputs are assigned to the z-8.8 digital audio router source 6.
  • Cassette (Carver)

  • Carver cassette deck outputs are normalled to the 2-Track inputs on the Mackie 32x8.
  • 2-Track (Otari MX5050BIII)

  • Otari MX5050BIII outputs are normalled to input channels 29&30 on the Mackie 32x8.
  • 4-Track (Sony)

  • Sony 4-Track line outputs are normalled to the channel 9-12 insert inputs on the Mackie 32x8.
  • DigiDesign ProTools III: Analog

  • DigiDesign 888 I/O line output channels 1-8 are normalled to the channel 1-8 insert inputs on the Mackie 32x8.
  • DigiDesign ProTools III: Digital

  • DigiDesign 888 I/O AES/EBU output channels 1-8 are assigned to the z-8.8 digital audio router sources 1-4 (eg. 1&2 are source 1, 3&4 are source 2, etc.). See digital routing handout for directions on using the z-8.8 Digital Detangler.
