Follow these steps to record in the emu studio.
REMEMBER: Follow all procedures as outlined in the handout `Getting
Started."
DAT: Analog (Tascam DA30)
- The main balanced outputs from the Mackie 32x8 are normalled to the
balanced inputs of the Tascam DA30. All channels assigned to the L/R Mix will
be sent to the DA30.
DAT: Digital (Tascam DA30)
- Tascam DA30 S/PDIF inputs are assigned to the z-8.8 digital audio router destination 5. See digital routing handout for directions on using the z-8.8 Digital Detangler. Unlike analog signals, the 0 (zero) on the meter is the absolute maximum input to the deck before clipping of the signal occurs. The digital equivalent to 0VU is approximately -14 on the digital meters. This should give you enough headroom for amplitude peaks.
DAT: Analog (Panasonic SV3800)
- Output channels 7&8 of the Sub-buss on the Mackie 32x8 are normalled to
the Panasonic SV3800 cassette deck.
DAT: Digital (Panasonic SV3800)
- Panasonic SV3800 S/PDIF inputs are assigned to the z-8.8 digital audio router destination 6.
Cassette (Carver)
- Output channels 5&6 of the Sub-buss on the Mackie 32x8 are normalled to
the Carver cassette deck. Assign the desired channels to this sub-buss to send
the signal to the Carver cassette deck.
2-Track (Otari MX5050BIII)
- Main Mix Outputs on the Mackie 32x8 are normalled to the Otari MX5050BIII.
Assign the desired channels to the L&R Mix.
4-Track (Sony)
- Submaster Output channels 1-4 (Sub-buss) on the Mackie 32x8 are normalled to
the Sony 4-Track line inputs. Assign the desired channels to the Sub-buss
channels 1-4.
DigiDesign ProTools III: Analog
- Submaster Output channels 1-8 (Sub-buss) on the Mackie 32x8 are normalled to
the DigiDesign 888 I/O line inputs which are connected to the ProTools III
system on the 8100/100AV. Assign the desired channels to the Sub-buss channels
1-8.
DigiDesign ProTools III: Digital
- DigiDesign 888 I/O AES/EBU input channels 1-8 are assigned to the z-8.8 digital audio router destinations 1-4 (eg. 1&2 are destination 1, 3&4 are destination 2, etc.). See digital routing handout for directions on using the z-8.8 Digital Detangler.
