UF Symphonic Band performs at College Band Directors National Association Conference

The UF Symphonic Band, under the direction of Associate Professor and Associate Director of Bands Jay Watkins,  presented recruiting concerts at Alan D. Nease High School in Ponte Vedre, FL and at Colleton County High School Performing Arts Center, in Walterboro, SC to over 1,200 high school music and arts students on February 18 and 19. These concerts were performed en route to the Symphonic Band's invited performance, selected by blind audition, to perform at the College Band Directors National Association Southern Division Conference and the National Band Association Conference at the Gaillard Concert Hall, in Charleston, SC, on February 20, 2106.

The program featured works composed by UF faculty members Paul Basler and Peter Van Zandt Lane and works commissioned for the UF Bands by Wayne Oquin, Aaron Perrine and Scott McAllister. Guest conductors were Dr. Chip Birkner, Assistant Director of Bands and Dr. David Waybright, Director of Bands and Conducting Area Head, along with featured soloists and UF graduates Jackie Glazier, clarinet and David Becker, saxophone.
