UF represented at Florida Tuba/Euphonium Festival

The University of South Florida hosted the first ever Florida Tuba/Euphonium Festival on October 29th. The Festival was an all-day event featuring panels, masterclasses, clinics and performances by prominent tuba and euphonium artists from Florida and beyond. Dr. Rachel Matz, UF's Adjunct Assistant Professor of Tuba and Euphonium (and a USF alumnus), served on a discussion panel about successful auditions and performed as a soloist in the final evening concert, which was nearly sold out. The day was a resounding success and Dr. Matz hopes to continue her involvement in these kinds of events. Floridian tuba and euphonium players often have to travel long distances to attend conferences and the nature of these instruments can put restrictions on certain kinds of travel, so having an event like this one in-state is a wonderful opportunity for many.
