Matt Morgan opens voice studio in New York City

By Chaz May

For the University of Florida musical theatre students, the training does not end after graduation.

UF Visiting Assistant Professor Matt Morgan recently opened a voice studio in Manhattan and is continuing work with alumni of the musical theatre program.

“I believe that it is important to provide continuity as they make the transition from student to emerging professional,” Morgan said. “It facilitates an added sense of community between them and other studio members.”

Morgan joined the University of Florida faculty in 2013 as the resident vocal instructor and has been an instrumental asset in continuing to build the musical theatre program. Morgan brings years of professional performing experience in the fields of musical theatre and opera, appearing with the New York City Opera, the American Symphony Orchestra and numerous engagements at the Lincoln Center.

“Matt Morgan is an incredible teacher,” NY based, UF musical theatre alumnus Felipe Bombonato said. “A studio up here is going to change a lot of people’s lives.”

The studio is already busy serving numerous UF alumni and will continue to grow as graduating students make their move.
