Luke Blackburn selected to commission work for Lydian String Quartet

Luke Blackburn (BM Composition ’15) is starting his Master in Music Composition degree at Brandeis University in Boston. He has been selected to commission a work for the Lydian String Quartet, featuring Gleb Kenasevich on clarinet, which will be premiered on December 12, 2015. Blackburn was also chosen to collaborate with librettist Anne Alexander to create an opera scene based on Alexander’s short story “Last Lousy Winter in Rockville," which will be performed by the Guerrilla Opera Company for the Leonard Bernstein Festival on April 17, 2016. He as also won a principal bassoon position for the Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra.
